Tottenham eyeing move for Bologna star Mattias Svanberg

As the summer transfer window comes closer and closer Tottenham are being linked with more and more potential transfers.

It’s claimed by British media that Tottenham are eyeing move for Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg.

The 23-year-old has been with Bologna since 2018, having signed for the club from Malmö FF for 4.5 million euros. His current deal expires in 2023.

The midfielder has featured in 36 matches this term, netting 3 goals and providing 3 assists in all competitions.

He is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Sweden. Svanberg has also left his mark at the international stage after netting one goal in 18 senior appearances for the Sweden national team.

Mattias Svanberg will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Bologna this term.

The Spurs have earmarked Bologna midfielder as their target, with Antonio Conte being a ‘huge admirer’ of the player.

Tottenham have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

The Spurs are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

The former Malmö FF man will offer the Tottenham boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.

According to the report, “Spurs boss Antonio Conte and sporting director Fabio Paratici are expected to be very active in the summer transfer market, with the Italian duo fully aware that the club need to invest in the first-team squad to challenge at the top end of the table. Champions League qualification would certainly help that equation, although Tottenham will have to get past Arsenal in fourth spot first. If Spurs do miss out on the top four then the hope is that Conte still remains and is able to use his lure to bring top players to north London. And one player very much on the club’s radar is said to be Swedish midfielder Svanberg. Paratici was reportedly looking at a deal for the 23-year-old in January. However, the club ended up landing Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus instead. That has not stopped their interest in Svanberg though. Indeed, Italian outlet 1000 Cuori Rossoblu reports that Tottenham have renewed their interest in the talented midfielder. Svanberg is widely regarded as the future of Swedish football, along Kulusevski. Indeed, the winger has already made a big impression in north London. The breakdown is considered to be just €10m (£8.5million) for Svanberg.”

If Tottenham can agree on a fee with Bologna, the deal should be easy to complete.

The Italian club are preparing to sell their midfielder should they receive right offer for him.

Good signing for Tottenham?

If Mattias Svanberg is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Tottenham.

Svanberg will be an ideal choice for Antonio Conte as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his midfielders.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in London.

It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham will make their move during the summer transfer window.
