Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has signed a new contract that will run until 2019

According to the official Tottenham Hotspur website, the Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen has signed a new contract that will run until 2019.

The Belgium international defender has moved from Ajax Amsterdam to White Hart Lane in July 2012, for a fee in the region of 12.5 million euros.

Since his arrival from Ajax Amsterdam, the 29 year-old  has won 13 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur this season and won in average 3.4 aerial duels this champagne.

Jan Vertonghen has been in negotiations for new contract with the Spurs representatives since the end of last season.

The Belgium international was a main reason why the Spurs defensive record of 35 goals conceded last season was the lowest in the Premier League.
