Sevilla set to sign Lyon striker Mariano Diaz
Sevilla are planning a move for Mariano Diaz.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media, Sevilla are set to sign Lyon striker Mariano Diaz.
The Dominican Republic international joined Lyon from Real Madrid for a fee in the region of 8 million euros in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.
Diaz has played 48 times for Lyon since signing from Real Madrid, scoring 21 goals and creating 7 assists in that time.
The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Dominican Republic.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Sevilla.
Pablo Machín is looking to shore up his attacking options and Lyon’s Mariano Diaz happens to be a target. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.
Sevilla are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
According to Football Espana (via Diario AS), “Sevilla are set to pay a club record €40m to sign former Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz from Olympique Lyonnais. Diario AS say the record bid is likely to convince Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas, a notoriously tough negotiator, only a year after the Dominican joined the French club in an €8m deal.”
