Roma set to sign Manchester City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov

Roma are looking set to land Aleksandar Kolarov after Serbian Media (Mozzart Sport) revealed that they are in advanced negotiations with Manchester City ahead of a potential move.

The Serbia international has joined Manchester City from Lazio for a fee in the region of 23 million euros in July 2010. The 31-year-old has a valid contract with Manchester City until June 2018.

Since his arrival from Lazio, Aleksandar Kolarov has scored 21 goals and provided 37 assists in 247 games for Manchester City in all competitions.

Aleksandar Kolarov has represented Serbia at Under-21 level, winning 11 caps and scoring one goal, before making his senior international debut in May 2008. As a member of Serbia national football team, Aleksandar Kolarov has won 67 caps and has scored eight goals.

The left-back has just 12 months remaining on his contract and Manchester City may consider a deal in this transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.

Monchi wants to sign a new left-back this summer and Aleksandar Kolarov is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

Roma sporting director is a long term admirer of Aleksandar Kolarov and believes he can get the most out of the Serbia international.

Monchi will reportedly be handed a huge transfer kitty this summer and the Manchester City left-back is thought to be among the manager’s priorities. Roma are desperate to make an impact in this summer transfer window.

The Serbia international will definitely be a good addition to the Roma side, which will be competing in the Champions League next season.

According to the report in Serbian Media, Kolarov is set to arrive on an expensive loan, with the obligation to make the move permanent for 6 million euros next summer.
