Roma join the hunt for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele

According to a report from Calciomercato

, Roma are the most recent club to show interest in the France international.

The France international joined Lyon from Amiens for a fee in the region of 8 million euros in July 2018. His contract expires in the summer of 2020.

The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in France.

Tanguy Ndombele has represented France at Under-21 level, winning nine caps.

The France international has impressed in Ligue 1 last season and is starting to attract the interest of bigger clubs.

Monchi wants to sign a new midfielder and Ndombele is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

Roma have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

The report claims that Roma sporting director has extensively scouted Ndombele and is considering a move for the midfielder.

Roma are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

According to Calciomercato (via Gazzetta dello Sport), “Serie A giants AS Roma have identified Tottenham target Tanguy Ndombele as an alternative to Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi. Roma have decided not to pursue a move for N’Zonzi due to disagreement in the board about the player. La Gazzetta dello Sport state that Monchi sees NDombele as an alternative to the Frenchman and the 21-year-old is valued at about 25 million euros.”

Lyon are reluctant to let Tanguy Ndombele go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.

Signing the 21-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Monchi.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Roma.

How strong that interest is and whether Roma will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
