When Real set their eyes on a player, more often than not, they force their way into getting him. This time they have set their sights on Wilfred Ndidi, and the club are working hard to cut a deal with Leicester for the midfielder.
It’s claimed by Spanish media that Real Madrid are linked with fresh move for Wilfred Ndidi.
The Nigeria international joined Leicester City from Genk for a fee in the region of 17.6 million euros in January 2017. The 24-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.
The midfielder has featured in 11 matches for Leicester City this term in all competitions.
The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Nigeria. Ndidi has earned 34 senior caps for the Nigeria national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
The report details that Carlo Ancelotti feels his midfield currently lacks some bite and that he could strengthen this winter.
Ancelotti is a long term admirer of Ndidi and believes he can get the most out of the Nigeria international.
The Spanish giants are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
Wilfred Ndidi has the talent to play many roles in midfield. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Real Madrid are interested in a move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi according to Mundo Deportivo. Los Blancos see the 24-year-old as the long-term heir to Casemiro in their midfield. Ndidi, a Nigerian international, was signed by Leicester to replace N’Golo Kante when he was poached by Chelsea in 2016. Since then, he’s become a fixture in their midfield and developed a name as one of the best ball-winners in the Premier League. It’s expected it’d cost in the region of €60m to sign him.”
Euro Football Rumours
Real Madrid will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Leicester City to the negotiating table. They have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.
The Foxes would be wise to keep the Nigeria international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Wilfred Ndidi ideal fit for Real Madrid?
Undoubtedly, he would be a fantastic recruit for Real Madrid.
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
A midfielder of Ndidi’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Real Madrid squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Ancelotti’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his midfield department.
Whether or not this is the end for Ndidi in Leicester remains to be seen. If the move goes through as reported, then it would be a fantastic deal for all parties involved.
