Real Madrid leading the race for Thiago Alcantara

When it comes to the transfer market, Real Madrid are simply one of the best in the business.

The reports in Italy suggested that Real Madrid are leading the race for Bayern Munich central midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

The 27-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Spain international was signed by Bayern Munich in July 2013 from Barcelona for a fee of 25 million euros. The 27-year-old has a contract until 2021 with the club.

Alcantara made 163 appearances across all competitions for Bayern Munich, scoring 26 goals and supplying 28 assists in return.

The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best central midfielders in Spain.

As a member of Spain national football team, Alcantara won 34 caps and he scored two goals.

Florentino Perez wants to sign a new central midfielder and Alcantara is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The Spain international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfielder Julen Lopetegui wants to target in the summer transfer window.

Alcantara, known as Thiago, initially grew up in the youth system at Barcelona alongside his brother Rafinha, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Inter. Juventus had, alongside Barcelona, expressed an interest in Thiago, who looks set to leave Bavaria at the end of the season. It was reported that the Spaniard was to leave Bayern over the summer just gone, yet nothing official came to be. The latest reports indicate that Real Madrid are set on Thiago and the player would welcome a move too, with Florentino Perez preparing a €50 million bid for the midfielder.”
