RB Leipzig eyeing move for Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak

As the summer transfer window comes closer and closer RB Leipzig are being linked with more and more potential transfers.

As per German and British media, RB Leipzig are eyeing move for Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak.

The Turkey international joined Schalke from VfB Stuttgart for a fee in the region of 15 million euros in July 2019. His contract expires in the summer of 2024. In February 2021, Kabak was sent to Liverpool on loan.

The centre-back has featured in 13 matches for the Reds this term in all competitions.

The 21-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Turkey.

The Schalke centre-back has also represented the Turkey at various youth levels before going on to secure 10 senior caps for his country thus far.

Ozan Kabak is widely regarded as a key transfer target for Leipzig this summer.

RB Leipzig have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

The centre-back heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third.

According to the report, “RB Leipzig are interested in Liverpool defender Ozan Kabak. Kabak is on-loan from Schalke, which were relegated from the Bundesliga this season. The Daily Mail says Liverpool are unlikely to take up their option to sign the 21-year-old Kabak on a permanent £18million deal from Schalke as they have lined up Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate for the summer in a £40million transfer. In turn, Leipzig are now discussing a potential deal for Turkey international Kabak, who also has interest from the Premier League. In terms of Liverpool releasing him, as of Sunday, Kabak has yet to be informed of this decision.”
