Paris Saint-Germain set to sign Mauro Icardi

The summer transfer window is still a two months away from officially opening up. However, that does not often stop clubs for making offers to buy players from other clubs.

Paris Saint-Germain are set to sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to the football transfer rumours in Italian media.

The 26-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Argentina international was signed by Inter Milan in July 2013 from Sampdoria for a fee of 13 million euros. The 26-year-old has a contract until 2021 with the club.

Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a new striker and Mauro Icardi is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

The Argentina international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker.

According to Football Italia, “Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to sign Inter striker Mauro Icardi, who has a €70m asking price. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Icardi is PSG’s top transfer target this summer as they look to replace Edinson Cavani. The newspaper adds that while no talks have taken place yet, they are ‘ahead’ of the competition. Inter would be demanding €70m for the Argentine, whose stock has fallen since his six-week exile from the first team.”

Inter Milan are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the striker, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

Undoubtedly he would be a fantastic recruit for Paris Saint-Germain.

Paris Saint-Germain fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club this summer.
