Nice poised to land Samuel Umtiti
OGC Nice are reportedly keeping a close eye on many centre-backs across the Europe.
It’s claimed by French media that Nice are poised to land Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti.
The France international joined Barcelona from Lyon for a fee in the region of 25 million euros in July 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2026.
The centre-back has featured in only one match for Barcelona last term in all competitions.
Umtiti has left his mark at the international stage after netting 4 goals in 31 senior appearances for the France national team.
He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Barcelona this summer and the list of suitors in the France international continues to grow.
Christophe Galtier needs to tighten up his defense and a centre-back would be a welcome addition. He is a firm fan of Barcelona centre-back and Nice could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The French team are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
The former Lyon man is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

Nice could be the solution. The French side are ready to sign the centre-back if he’s allowed to leave for free, according to a report in lequotidiendusport. They have sounded out the player’s camp to try and reach an agreement with Barça for him to rescinding his contract mutually and then they would be able to bring him in for nothing. The Ligue 1 side are ready to offer him a basic wage with variables depending on performances. Barça are ready to play their part and will listen to all offers for the defender. The club want to cut Umtiti loose, although they would also be open to a loan move.”

Nevertheless, Samuel Umtiti stands as an excellent option for Nice.
Umtiti has all the skillset required to be a success story at Nice. Therefore, it makes sense for Galtier to step up his attempts to bring the France centre-back to Ligue 1 side.
Nice fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.
