It’s no secret that Newcastle United are interested in Vasco de Gama’s midfielder Andrey Santos. But who isn’t?
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Newcastle United are pushing to sign Vasco de Gama midfielder Andrey Santos.
The 18-year-old midfielder has played all his life at Vasco de Gama. His current deal runs out in the summer of 2027.
He has banged in seven goals in 32 matches for Vasco de Gama this term on all fronts.
The 18-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Brazil. Santos has represented Brazil at Under-16 level, winning six caps and scoring two goals.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
The Magpies are looking to sign a midfielder and have identified the 18-year-old as potential transfer target. Eddie Howe is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
This approach of signing exciting talent from different parts of the globe can reap rewards for Newcastle in the future.
Newcastle United are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
The 18-year-old man will add a new dimension to Newcastle United’s midfield.
According to the report, “Premier League giants Newcastle United are chasing highly-rated Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos. The Magpies are working hard to establish their squad as one of the best in the league since their takeover by a Saudi Arabia-linked consortium. Part of their work involves securing top young players, and Vasco de Gama’s 18-year-old Santos is appealing to the club’s scouts. However, Newcastle may have a hard time securing a work permit for Santos, while they also have to consider Financial Fair Play regulations.”
Euro Football Rumours
Vasco de Gama are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the midfielder, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.
The Magpies will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Vasco de Gama to the negotiating table. They have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.
Good signing for Newcastle United?
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
Of course, the 18-year-old is not going to become a regular for Newcastle straightaway, but working under Eddie Howe would make him a better player.
How strong that interest is and whether Newcastle will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
