Newcastle looking to loan Yerry Mina
It is an open secret that Newcastle need to sign a centre-back.
According to multiple reports emanating from England, Newcastle are eyeing loan move for Everton centre-back Yerry Mina.
The 27-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
Everton spent 30.25 million euros to sign the 27-year-old from Barcelona in the summer of 2018. He has a valid contract until June 2023.
The centre-back has played 85 times for Everton over the course of his career, scoring six goals and providing one assist.
He is considered to be one of the best defenders in Colombia. Mina has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 7 goals in 38 senior appearances for the Colombia national team.
The Colombia international has just one and a half years remaining on his contract and Everton may consider a deal in this transfer window.
Adding a centre-back remains Newcastle’s top priority and Eddie Howe will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.
The 27-year-old is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Howe wants to target in the winter transfer window.
The former Barcelona man is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side.
According to the report, “Eddie Howe’s primary defensive targets have so far been Burnley’s James Tarkowski and Lille star Sven Botman, but neither of those deals were possible. Sevilla’s Diego Carlos has since emerged as the number one target. However, that deal has not yet been agreed and Newcastle are looking at other options instead. Now we can reveal that one of those the Magpies are keen on is Colombian ace Mina, although the recent sacking of Rafa Benitez could see the situation complicated. Newcastle do still have room in their squad for two domestic loans – and Mina could fill one of those berths. But it remains to be seen whether Everton would be happy to potentially strengthen a rival who are only seven points behind them in the table and still sit in the bottom three.”

If Newcastle can agree on a fee with Everton, the deal should be easy to complete.
Good signing for Newcastle United?
The Magpies must improve their defensive options and the signing of Mina would be a step in the right direction.
A centre-back of Mina’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Newcastle squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Eddie Howe’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his defensive department.
It will be interesting to see whether Newcastle will make their move during the winter transfer window.
