Dele Alli looks set to leave, and Newcastle are considering making a move.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Newcastle are looking to loan Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli.
Alli has been at Tottenham since 2015 when he joined from Milton Keynes Dons. The 25-year-old’s contract at Tottenham is set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
The midfielder has banged in 2 goals and provided one assist in 14 matches for Tottenham this term on all fronts. He has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 3 goals in 37 senior appearances for the England national team.
The 25-year-old is out of the picture at Tottenham, which has opened the door for a potential exit.
Eddie Howe wants to sign a new midfielder and Alli is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
Newcastle are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former Milton Keynes Dons man has the talent to play many roles in midfield.
According to the report, “Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for Dele Alli in next month’s transfer window and Teamtalk can now reveal one of the clubs that have made initial enquiries is Newcastle. Alli’s fall from grace at Spurs started when he was left out of the side by Jose Mourinho and after new Spurs boss Antonio Conte also decided he didn’t want the former England midfielder in his squad, it appears the bell is tolling for him in north London. Now we have been informed that Newcastle have made it clear that they are interested in taking Alli on loan next month. However, they want a clause inserted into the contract that would give them the option to buy the player – if they cling on to their Premier League status. Newcastle are looking to make a big splash in the transfer market next month. Indeed, their new Saudi Arabian owners are striving to give manager Eddie Howe every chance of pulling them clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League. And it seems Alli is a player they believe they can extract from Tottenham. That is despite doubts that the player will want to move to the North East.”
Euro Football Rumours
Newcastle will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Alli to join the club.
The Spurs are preparing to loan their midfielder should they receive right offer for him.
Good signing for Newcastle?
Alli could offer a smart solution if Newcastle can manage to get him on loan. If the deal works out and the 25-year-old plays well, a permanent deal could be pursued and if he fails to perform, Alli can return to Tottenham.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Newcastle.
It will be interesting to see if Newcastle make their move for the 25-year-old in the coming weeks.
