Newcastle looking to loan Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp

Over the past couple of weeks, there has been intense speculation over the future of Oliver Skipp at Tottenham.

Reports in the British media claim that Newcastle United are looking to loan Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp.

The 20-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.

In August 2020, Skipp was sent to Norwich City on a season-long loan. In 47 appearances for Norwich, Skipp has managed to score one goal, and create two goals for his teammates.

The 20-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in England. Oliver Skipp has represented England at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 level, winning 25 caps.

He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Tottenham this summer and the list of suitors in the England international continues to grow.

The Magpies are looking to sign a midfielder and have identified the 20-year-old as potential transfer target.

Steve Bruce has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

The England international will offer the Newcastle United boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.

According to the report, “Newcastle United are showing an interest in Tottenham star Oliver Skipp. The midfielder was very impressive during a loan spell at Norwich City last term, as the Canaries secured promotion to the Premier League. However, the 20-year-old is highly rated at Spurs, which means manager Nuno Espirito Santo will leave it until late in the transfer window to decide his future. Newcastle want to add midfielders to their squad, which gives Spurs a chance to allow Skipp to experience an entire Premier League season on loan. Skipp would play a lot more at the Magpies, who are also working on a loan deal for Arsenal’s Joe Willock.”

Good signing for Newcastle United?

Undoubtedly he would be a fantastic recruit for Newcastle.

A move away from Tottenham will not be only the best move for Skipp, but also for the club.

All in all, Oliver Skipp will be an ideal choice for Bruce as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his midfielders.

It will be interesting to see if Newcastle make their move for the 20-year-old in the coming days.
