Napoli are reportedly one of many clubs keeping tabs on Uruguay international Lucas Torreira.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Napoli are poised to land Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Arsenal spent 28.65 million euros to sign the Uruguay international from Sampdoria in the summer of 2018. The 23-year-old has four years left on his current contract which expires in 2023.

In 71 appearances for Arsenal, Torreira has managed to score 4 goals, and create 5 goals for his teammates.

The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Uruguay.

Lucas Torreira is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Arsenal this winter and the list of suitors in the Uruguay international continues to grow.

Gennaro Gattuso wants to sign a new midfielder and Torreira is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.

The Naples-based club have been in the market to sign a player who can bolster their midfield for the rest of the campaign. As per the latest report, the club’s hierarchy have identified Torreira as a perfect fit and are looking to make a move for him in the January transfer window. The report further stated that Napoli are willing to offer Arsenal €3 million for an 18-month loan for the Uruguay international with an option to make the deal permanent by paying another €27 million. Torreira has plenty of experience of playing in the Serie A where he has already represented the likes of Sampdoria and Pescara in the past.”
