Manchester United target Zagadou
The defense remains the key area for Manchester United to address in the next couple of transfer windows.
The reports in England suggested that Manchester United are targeting Borussia Dortmund centre-back Dan-Axel Zagadou.
The France international joined Borussia Dortmund from Paris Saint-Germain B on a free transfer in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.
Zagadou made 60 appearances across all competitions for Borussia, scoring four goals and supplying one assist in return.
The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in France.
Dan-Axel Zagadou has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 51 caps and scoring 7 goals.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign a new centre-back and Zagadou is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.
Manchester United have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Solskjaer is a long term admirer of Zagadou and believes he can get the most out of the France international.
United are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
Zagadou has been a good servant for BVB, and is a centre-back who places himself in the right positions in defensive situations. He has the talent to play many roles in defense.
According to the report, “Manchester United have reportedly identified Borussia Dortmund’s Dan-Axel Zagadou as a potential January transfer target. The 21-year-old centre-back has spent the last three years with Dortmund, having joined the Bundesliga giants on a five-year contract following his exit from PSG. The defender has made 60 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions but has not featured this season due to a knee injury he suffered in August. United continue to be linked with a new year deal for a central defender, as they look for a long-term partner for Harry Maguire. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains unconvinced by Victor Lindelof, despite continually naming the Swede in his starting XI. That has led to talk of a move for Dayot Upamecano, amongt others, although the RB Leipzig star had a stinker as United recently thumped the German outfit 5-0 in the Champions League.”
