Manchester United keen to land Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa
Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on many left-backs across the Europe.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Manchester United are keen to land Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa.
Stuttgart spent 6 million euros to sign the Croatia international from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2018. He has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2025.
The left-back has featured in 29 matches this term, netting 2 goals and providing impressive 9 assists in all competitions.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 24-year-old and still has tons of room for growth. The Stuttgart left-back has also represented the Croatia at various youth levels before going on to secure five senior caps for his country thus far.
Sosa will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Stuttgart this term.
The Red Devils have earmarked Stuttgart left-back as their target, with Erik ten Hag being a ‘huge admirer’ of the player. United have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Ten Hag is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.
The former Dinamo Zagreb man has been a good servant for Stuttgart, and is a left-back who places himself in the right positions in defensive situations. He would be a versatile addition for United, having featured at left-back and fullback.
According to the report, “Manchester United are eyeing Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa. Sosa, who has compared himself to David Beckham, has previously been linked with a £25million move to Chelsea as a potential back-up for Ben Chilwell. Kicker says incoming United boss Erik ten Hag is keen to beat Chelsea to the Croatian international and make him his first signing this summer. With his crossing ability and long blonde hair, it has made comparisons to Beckham inevitable – especially since the player has compared himself to the former England captain. It’s a belief which the Stuttgart’s sporting director Sven Mislintat agrees with. Sosa would offer further competition for Luke Shaw and Alex Telles if he were to join Manchester United. While at Chelsea he would offer greater back-up to Chilwell, who has been out since November with a ruptured cruciate ligament.”
Euro Football Rumours
It would take a huge offer from United to prise the 24-year-old left-back from Stuttgart.
The German club would be wise to keep the Croatia international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Good signing for Manchester United?
Signing the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Erik ten Hag.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Manchester.
If Erik ten Hag sees him as the right man for his side, Manchester United should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
