Manchester United join Liverpool in race for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka
Over the past couple of weeks, there has been intense speculation over the future of Patson Daka at RB Salzburg.
As per British media, Manchester United have joined Liverpool in race for Patson Daka.
The 21-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Zambia international joined RB Salzburg from Kafue Celtic in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2024.
The striker has banged in 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 45 matches for Salzburg last term on all fronts.
The 21-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Zambia.
Daka has also left his mark at the international stage after netting two goals in 18 senior appearances for the Zambia national team.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Manchester United.
The Red Devils are looking to sign a striker and have identified the 21-year-old as potential transfer target.
The report claims that Manchester United manager has extensively scouted Daka and is considering a move for the striker.
The Zambia international will offer the Manchester United boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.
According to the report, “Manchester United have reportedly joined Liverpool in lining up a move for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka. The 21-year-old Zambia international impressed as he scored twice for the Austrian side in their 2-2 draw with Jurgen Klopp’s men in a friendly on Tuesday. And now The Sun claims that the Red Devils have joined the Anfield outfit and several other big clubs in tracking him. Daka scored 24 goals in 31 league games as Salzburg won the Austrian Bundesliga title for the seventh year in a row in 2019/20. That title came despite selling major United target Erling Haaland to Borussia Dortmund in January. Daka is the latest player off an impressive Salzburg production line, which also includes Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino. He also faced Liverpool in the Champions League last season, after which the Reds decided to purchase Minamino.”

RB Salzburg are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the striker, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.
Good signing for Manchester United?
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
Although he may not be an immediate improvement to the squad, he could be a valuable signing for the future if he continues to progress at this rate.
The 21-year-old could be a good fit for Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s Manchester United.
If Solskjær sees him as the right man for his side, Manchester United should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
