Manchester United enter talks with Bayer Leverkusen for Leon Bailey
Manchester United are reportedly holding intense negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen in order to sign Leon Bailey in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
Bayer Leverkusen spent 13.5 million euros to sign the Jamaica international from Genk
in the winter of 2017. The 23-year-old has a valid contract with Bayer until June 2023.
The winger banged in 12 goals and provided 9 assists in 32 matches for Bayer this season across all fronts showcasing just how influential he has been in the final third.
The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best wingers in Jamaica. Bailey has also left his mark at the international stage after netting one goal in 8 senior appearances for the Jamaica national team.
The Jamaica international will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Bayer this term.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær wants to sign a new winger and Bailey is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.
Leon Bailey has been long term target of Solskjær as the manager look to bolster his attacking options for the next season.
The Red Devils are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old is a traditional winger, having all types of finishes in his locker. His arrival would give Manchester United some much needed tactical flexibility.
According to the report, “Manchester United have reportedly already held talks with Leon Bailey over a transfer this summer. The Red Devils are keen to know about the Bayer Leverkusen winger’s availability in advance, hence the early contact, as reported in the Daily Express. Bailey has been a player in demand ever since he joined Leverkusen from Genk in Janiuary 2017. The Jamaica international, who can play on both wings, has scored 36 times in 148 appearances for the German side. He is renowned for his lightning pace and ability to beat players and would give United another dimension in attack. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the hunt for new forward options, with a new right-winger his main priority. Bailey fits the bill perfectly, despite being a left-footer, although the Red Devils will have rivals to see off first. The player’s agent is also reported to have held talks with Tottenham and AC Milan over a potential switch.”

United have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the Jamaica international.
Leon Bailey ideal fit for Manchester United?
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
Leon Bailey is very highly rated in Germany and he could be a superb long term signing for United.
The 23-year-old has all the skillset required to be a success story at Manchester United. Therefore, it makes sense for Ole Gunnar Solskjær to step up his attempts to bring the Jamaica winger to Premier League side.
How strong that interest is and whether United will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
