Marc Cucurella is getting closer to Manchester City day by day as transfer talk continues to intensify.
The reports in England suggested that Manchester City will look to sign Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella.
The Spain international joined Brighton from Getafe for a fee in the region of 18 million euros in August 2021. His contract expires in the summer of 2026.
In 38 appearances for Brighton, Cucurella has managed to score one goal, and create two goals for his teammates.
The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best left-backs in Spain. The Brighton left-back has also represented the Spain at various youth levels before going on to secure one senior cap for his country thus far.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Pep Guardiola wants to sign a new left-back and Marc Cucurella is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The report claims that City manager has extensively scouted Cucurella and is considering a move for the left-back.
The English giants will have funds to spend in the market and it will be interesting to see how they approach the summer transfer window.
The former Getafe man can also play as a full-back, offering Guardiola a different option should he change his formation at Manchester City.
According to the report, “Manchester City are planning a move for Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella. The Daily Mail says manager Pep Guardiola said last week he wants to add ‘hungry’ players and the 23-year-old fits the bill. No full back in the Premier League has won possession more than Cucurella’s 241 times.”
Euro Football Rumours
Brighton are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the left-back, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.
Manchester City have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the Spain international.
Good signing for Manchester City?
Marc Cucurella will be an ideal choice for Guardiola as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his defenders.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Manchester.
If Pep Guardiola sees him as the right man for his side, City should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
