The latest reports in England suggest that Manchester City are tracking Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens.
Atalanta spent 1.17 million euros to sign the Germany international from Heracles Almelo in the summer of 2017. The 27-year-old has two years left on his current contract which expires in 2023.
The left-back banged in two goals and provided one assist in only 6 matches for Atalanta this season across all fronts showcasing just how influential he has been in the final third.
The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best left-backs in Germany. Gosens has also left his mark at the international stage after netting two goals in 13 senior appearances for the Germany national team.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Pep Guardiola wants to sign a new left-back and Gosens is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The report claims that City manager has extensively scouted the 27-year-old and is considering a move for the left-back. Guardiola is a long term admirer of Gosens and believes he can get the most out of the Germany international.
The English giants are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
Robin Gosens is a skilled left-back who can make a difference at both ends of the pitch.
According to the report, “Manchester City are keeping tabs on Atalanta fullback Robin Gosens. The Germany international is predominantly a left-sided wing-back, but he can also play as an extremely attacking left-back. At 27 years of age, Gosens is entering the prime of his career. In Serie A last season he scored ten goals and provided six assists – more goal contributions than any other defender in the division. City have been credited with an interest in him of late, though they’ll likely face strong competition for his signature, says the Manchester Evening News.”
