It is an open secret that Manchester City need to sign a left-back.

The latest reports in England suggest that Manchester City are targeting Arsenal star Kieran Tierney.

Tierney has been at Arsenal since 2019 when he joined from Celtic. The 25-year-old’s contract at Arsenal is set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

The left-back has banged in one goal and provided three assists in 24 matches last term on all fronts.

He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

Kieran Tierney has also left his mark at the international stage after netting one goal in 32 senior appearances for the Scotland national team.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola wants to sign a new left-back and Tierney is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented players across the globe.

Kieran Tierney is a skilled left-back who can make a difference at both ends of the pitch. The former Celtic man has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

According to the report, “Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is emerging as a surprise target for Manchester City. The Citizens are looking to secure a starting left-back for their team for the coming season. They are being linked to Marc Cucurella from Brighton, but may not be able to agree on a fee with the Premier League club. According to The Scotsman, Tierney is emerging as a serious alternative for manager Pep Guardiola. Arsenal would loathe to sell Tierney, as he is one of their most important defenders on both ends of the field. Real Madrid and Barcelona are also monitoring Tireney’s situation.”

The Citizens have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the Scotland international. Arsenal would be wise to keep the Scotland international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Good signing for Manchester City?

The 25-year-old Scotland international could be a very good squad player for Pep Guardiola over the next few years. He is at the peak of his career right now and Guardiola could bring out the best in him.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Manchester.

How strong that interest is and whether Manchester City will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
