Manchester City target Inigo Martinez from Real Sociedad to boost their defensive options.
The reports in Spain suggested that Manchester City are set to sign Real Sociedad centre-back Inigo Martinez.
Inigo Martinez made 237 appearances across all competitions for Real Sociedad, scoring 17 goals and supplying seven assists in return.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Spain.
The Spain international has been in impressive form for Real Sociedad this season.
Inigo Martinez has represented Spain at Under-20, Under-21 and Under-23 level, winning 20 caps, before making his senior international debut in August 2013. As a member of Spain national football team, Martinez won four caps.
Pep Guardiola is keen to secure new signing this winter, and Martinez could very well be a man under consideration. Martinez has been long term target of Guardiola as the manager look to bolster his defensive options for the second part of the season.

According to the report, Manchester City will try to land Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez this month but must pay his full 32 million euros release clause. The 26-year-old was connected with a move to Barcelona this summer before the Catalan giants reportedly pulled the plug on a deal, but while the central defender remained with Real Sociedad, Pep Guardiola has now prioritised his signing. Martinez current deal at the club runs until June 2021. He was a part of Spain’s Under-21 European Championship winning side in 2013.
