Manchester City linked with a summer move for Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish Media, Manchester City are linked with a summer move for Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
Aymeric Laporte has joined Athletic Bilbao from Bilbao Athletic for a fee in the region of 600,000 euros in 2012. The 22 year-old has a valid contract with Athletic Bilbao until June 2020.
Since his arrival from Bilbao Athletic, Aymeric Laporte has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 177 games for Athletic Bilbao, including one goal in 28 games this season in all competitions.
The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in La Liga.
Laporte has represented France at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 51 caps and scoring three goals.
The France international is a player who has impressed many European giants in the last few seasons, and it is understood that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola would prefer playing him as a central defender together with John Stones.
Few Premier League clubs are apparently trailing Manchester City in the pursuit of Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
Euro Football Rumours were informed that Athletic Bilbao have rejected an offer in the region of 45 million eruos form Manchester City for the France international last summer and that Laporte has 65 million euros buy-out clause in his contract.
