Manchester City keen on Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey
Over the past couple of weeks, there has been intense speculation over the future of Leon Bailey at Bayer Leverkusen.
Manchester City are keen on Leon Bailey, according to the football transfer rumours in British and German media.
Bailey has been at Bayer Leverkusen since 2017 when he joined from Genk. The 22-year-old’s contract at Bayer is set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
The winger has featured in 24 matches for Bayer Leverkusen this term, netting seven goals and providing one assist in all competitions.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 22-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
The Bayer winger has also represented the Jamaica at various youth levels before going on to secure six senior caps for his country thus far.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Pep Guardiola wants to sign a new winger and Leon Bailey is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The Manchester City manager has kept an eye on Bailey for the last 12 months and he is impressed with the winger’s performances.
The Citizens are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
His arrival would give Manchester City some much needed tactical flexibility.
According to the report, “Manchester City are looking at Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen for a summer transfer. The Citizens are likely to lose Leroy Sane, who wants a move to Bayern Munich. And the Daily Mail is reporting that if Sane does leave for Bayern, City would seek a replacement in the form of Bailey. The 22-year-old is left footed, much like Sane, but he excels with his right foot as well. Guardiola would like someone who can play on the left and right wing, which Bailey can handle. And Leverkusen wanting £40 million for the winger should not be a problem for a club with City’s riches.”
