Manchester City enter talks with Shakhtar for Fred

In the modern world of football, the transfer season lasts year-round. While the literal transfers of players take place in the winter and summer windows, rumors, speculation and even concrete agreements can happen any time.

Manchester City enter talks with Shakhtar Donetsk for Fred, according to the football transfer rumours in British media.

The Brazil international was signed by Shakhtar Donetsk in July 2013 from Internacional for a fee of 15.8 million euros. The 24-year-old has a contract until 2021 with the club.

Fred has played 142 times for Shakhtar Donetsk since signing from Internacional, scoring 13 goals and creating 12 assists in that time.

Manchester City are scouting the 24-year-old, who has been in considerably outstanding form for Shakhtar Donetsk in recent times.

Fred has represented Brazil at Under-20 and Under-23 level, winning seven caps, before making his senior international debut in November 2014. As a member of Brazil national football team, Fred won six caps.

Adding a midfielder remains Manchester City’s priority next summer and Pep Guardiola will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming months.

The report claims that Manchester City manager has extensively scouted Fred and is considering a move for the midfielder.

The Brazil international is a player who has impressed many European clubs in the last few seasons, and it is understood that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola would prefer playing him as a central midfielder. Fred has the talent to play many roles in midfield.

According to the report, the 24-year-old starred for the Ukrainian champions during last month’s Champions League victory over Manchester City. Guardiola was left impressed with Fred and talks have taken place internally as to whether they make a move in the coming months.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Manchester City.

Will Fred be a Manchester City player soon? Only time will tell. One thing is nearly certain. Thanks to his great displays, he’ll be at a much bigger club than Shakhtar this time next year.
