Manchester City and Chelsea eyeing move for Roma defender Antonio Rudiger

Manchester City and Chelsea are eyeing move for AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, according to the football transfer rumours in Italian Media.

Antonio Rudiger has joined AS Roma from VfB Stuttgart for a fee in the region of 9 million euros in July 2016. The 24 year-old has a valid contract with Roma until the June 2020.

Since his arrival from VfB Stuttgart, Antonio Rudiger has scored two goals and provided two assists in 60 games for Roma, including one goal and two assists in 24 games in all competition this season.

Antonio Rudiger has also represented Germany at Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 34 caps across all age groups and scoring four goals. Since May 2014, Rudiger is a member of Germany national football team, winning 10 caps.

The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best defenders in Serie A.

The Germany international has been in fine form for AS Roma this season.

Antonio Rudiger has been long term target of Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte as the managers look to bolster their defensive options for the next season.

Euro Football Rumours understood that AS Roma valuate their defender Antonio Rudiger in the region of 35 million euros.

How strong that interest is and whether Manchester City and Chelsea will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
