Lyon will look to sign Atletico Madrid star Thomas Lemar
Lyon appear to have a genuine interest in signing Thomas Lemar this winter.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media, Lyon will look to sign Atletico Madrid forward Thomas Lemar.
The France international was signed by Atletico Madrid in July 2018 from Monaco for a fee of 70 million euros. The 24-year-old has a contract until 2023 with the club.
In 64 appearances for Atletico Madrid, Thomas Lemar has managed to score 3 goals, and create 6 goals for his teammates.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 24-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
As a member of France national football team, Lemar won 22 caps and he scored 4 goals.
Thomas Lemar is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Atletico Madrid this winter and the list of suitors in the France international continues to grow.
Rudi Garcia is looking to shore up his attacking options and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Lemar happens to be a target. Garcia is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
Thomas Lemar would provide a good variety to Lyon’s attack.
According to Football Espana, “Lyon are planning a series of high-profile January signings including out-of-favour Atletico Madrid forward Thomas Lemar, say L’Équipe. The fresh report from the French publication follows on from a recent report by Marca that Lemar could be returning to Ligue 1. The 24-year-old is no longer a regular in Diego Simeone’s side and has yet to score or register an assist to date this campaign. Earlier this month France Football reported, via Teamtalk, that the club are prepared to cut their losses on the player to then reinvest elsewhere in the squad. It has been reported that Atleti are operating at the maximum of their wage budget, meaning that they must sell before they can rejuvenate their squad.”

Lyon will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Lemar to join the club.
Thomas Lemar still has time on his side but he is unlikely to fulfill his potential at Atletico Madrid and it will be better for all parties if a transfer is arranged this winter.
Undoubtedly he would be a fantastic recruit for Lyon.
