Liverpool target Perr Schuurs
The defensive department of the Liverpool squad needs quality additions this winter.
The latest reports in England suggest that Liverpool are targeting Ajax centre-back Perr Schuurs.
The 20-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Netherlands international joined Ajax from Fortuna Sittard for a fee in the region of 2 million euros in January 2018. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.
Schuurs has played 32 times for Ajax since signing from Fortuna, scoring two goals and creating one assist in that time.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 20-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
Perr Schuurs has represented Netherlands at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 20 caps.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Adding a centre-back remains Liverpool’s top priority this winter and Jurgen Klopp will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.
Klopp has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
The Reds are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
Schuurs is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side. His arrival would give Liverpool some much needed tactical flexibility.
According to the report, “Liverpool have been told they will have to pay £26.7m if they want to sign in Ajax defender Perr Schuurs in January. The 20-year-old is being monitored by the Reds as they look to bring in more defensive reinforcements. Virgil van Dijk’s ACL injury kick-started a horror run of injuries for the Reds. They then lost Fabinho to a slight hamstring issue. More seriously, Joe Gomez has also been sidelined for the season with a knee issue. The Reds have been linked with a plethora of big-name players to fill the void. Despite that, they are won’t spend lavishly, meaning talk of a £55m deal for 29-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly looks unlikely.”

Good signing for Liverpool?
Signing the 20-year-old in the winter transfer window would be a masterstroke from Jurgen Klopp.
Although he may not be an immediate improvement to the squad, he could be a valuable signing for the future if he continues to progress at this rate.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Liverpool.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to pay the asking price for Schuurs.
