Liverpool preparing move for Luka Jovic
When it comes to the transfer market, Liverpool are simply one of the best in the business.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Liverpool are preparing move for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic.
The Serbia international joined Real from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee in the region of 63 million euros in July 2019. His contract expires in the summer of 2025.
The striker has featured in six matches this term, providing only one assist in all competitions.
The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Serbia. Jovic has left his mark at the international stage after netting 6 goals in 18 senior appearances for the Serbia national team.
He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Real Madrid this winter and the list of suitors in the Serbia international continues to grow.
Jürgen Klopp wants to sign a new striker and Jovic is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The Reds have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Luka Jovic is a traditional number nine, having all types of finishes in his locker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Klopp’s side.
According to the report, “Liverpool have been named as a potential landing spot for a Real Madrid forward in January in a move that would bring a different dimension to their attack. According to Goal, Klopp is eyeing the final piece of the puzzle. They claim the Reds are one of a number of sides considering a January approach for Luka Jovic. The Serbian international has endured a mixed bag since moving to the Bernabeu in 2019. Poor form and the resulting lack of gametime has seen his career stall and he was loaned out to former club Frankfurt last year. But still only 23, time is very much on his side to prove the doubters wrong. The outlet notes Liverpool lack a physical presence up top to mix it up when plan A fails. Jovic would apparently fill that gap and his signing is an ‘old wish of Klopp’. Furthermore, the looming absences of Salah and Mane to the 2021 AFCON will leave Liverpool short up front.”
