Liverpool linked with surprise move for Grzegorz Krychowiak

Liverpool need to strengthen their midfield this summer.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Liverpool are linked with surprise move for Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

The Poland international joined Paris Saint-Germain from Sevilla for a fee in the region of 27.5 million euros in July 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2021. In August 2017, Krychowiak was sent to West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan.

Grzegorz Krychowiak made 31 appearances across all competitions for West Bromwich Albion, supplying three assists in return.

His record for Poland is also impressive. Grzegorz Krychowiak has scored three goals in 54 matches for Poland at senior level.

Jurgen Klopp wants to sign a new defensive midfielder and Grzegorz Krychowiak is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The Liverpool manager has been impressed by his performances last season and could make a move this summer.

The defensive midfielder can also play as a centre-back, offering Jurgen Klopp a different option should he change his formation at Liverpool.

According to The Sun, “Liverpool have put Polish World Cup star Grzegorz Krychowiak on their summer hit list as Jurgen Klopp seeks to add depth to his squad. Krychowiak, 28, spent last season on loan with West Brom, where ironically one of the best of his 31 appearances came in the FA Cup win at Anfield. Now Klopp is considering a raid to bring him to England permanently, as part of his bid to strengthen a midfield which has lost Emre Can to Juventus. Much will depend on how new Paris St Germain chief Thomas Tuchel sees Krychowiak fitting into his own plans, after replacing Unai Emery at the French champions.”

Paris Saint-Germain are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the defensive midfielder, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

The Poland international will definitely be a good addition to the Liverpool side, which will be competing in the Champions League next season.
