It’s no secret that Liverpool are interested in Enzo Fernandez. But who isn’t?
According to multiple reports emanating from England, Liverpool are linked with a move for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
The 21-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
Benfica reportedly paid River Plate 12 million euros for Fernandez earlier this year. He has a valid contract with Benfica until June 2027.
The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Argentina. Fernandez has represented Argentina at Under-20 level, winning two caps.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
The English giants are looking to sign a midfielder and have identified the 21-year-old as potential transfer target.
Jurgen Klopp is a firm fan of Benfica midfielder and Liverpool could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The former River Plate man will add more quality to Liverpool’s midfield.
According to the report, “Liverpool are eyeing Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a young box-to-box midfield addition. Fernandez is on Klopp’s shortlist, and has drawn interest from a number of clubs after a seamless transition to European football from River Plate. He already has three goals from midfield in 12 games at Benfica, playing four games in the Champions League. Wolves have also been keeping tabs on him and will look to rival Liverpool for his signature in 2023.”
Euro Football Rumours
Liverpool will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Benfica to the negotiating table. The Reds have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.
Benfica are preparing to sell their midfielder should they receive a massive offer for him.
Good signing for Liverpool?
If Liverpool and Klopp are seriously considering a midfielder, Enzo Fernandez could also prove to be a smart option.
Fernandez will be an ideal choice for Jurgen Klopp as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his midfielders.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Liverpool.
How strong that interest is and whether Liverpool will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
