Liverpool join Newcastle and Brighton in race for Moses Simon

Gent winger Moses Simon is a target for Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

The reports in England suggested that Liverpool have joined Newcastle and Brighton in race for Gent winger Moses Simon.

The Nigeria international was signed by Gent in January 2015 from AS Trencin for a fee of 650,000 euros. The 22-year-old has a contract until 2019 with the club.

Since his arrival from Trencin, Simon has scored 20 goals and provided 17 assists in 128 games for Gent, including five goals and two assists in 25 games in all competitions this season.

Moses Simon is one of the brightest talents across Africa. The 22-year-old has not yet fully reached his prime.

As a member of Nigeria national football team, Simon won 16 caps and he scored three goals.

Jürgen Klopp wants to sign a new winger and Moses Simon is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The Liverpool manager has kept an eye on Simon for the last period and he is impressed with the winger’s performances.

Liverpool will be desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

According to Mirror (via Het Laatste Nieuws) , “The 22-year-old has caught the eye of some Premier League clubs after impressive performances for Gent this term. Simon is thought to be on the radar of Newcastle and Brighton but Liverpool have now entered the running. Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws claim the Premier League trio are all monitoring the winger, who could make Nigeria’s World Cup squad.”

Gent are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the winger, but offers of at least 15 million euros may force the club to consider a deal.

Signing the 22-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Jürgen Klopp.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Liverpool.

Will Simon be a Liverpool player soon? Only time will tell. Thanks to his great displays, he’ll be at a much bigger club than Gent this time next year.
