The defensive department of the Leicester City squad needs quality additions this summer.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media, Leicester City will make a move for Dakonam Djene.
The 27-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
Getafe spent 2.5 million euros to sign the Togo international from Sint-Truidense in the summer of 2017. The 27-year-old has four years left on his current contract which expires in 2023.
Djene made 74 appearances across all competitions for Getafe, scoring one goal.
The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best defenders in Togo. As a member of Togo national football team, Djene won 34 caps.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Brendan Rodgers is looking to shore up his defensive options and Getafe’s Djene happens to be a target. He has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move this summer.
Leicester City are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
According to Football Espana, “Leicester City are the front runners to sign Getafe defender Dakonam Djene, ahead of their Premier League rivals. According to reports in Marca this weekend, Brendan Rodgers’ side have stole ahead of Arsenal and Everton, who have both been linked with a move for the Togolese international. Djene was a key figure for Jose Bordalas’ side as they secured Europa League qualification in 2018-19, with the club confirming they have already received bids from interested parties for the former Alcorcon centre back. Bordalas has confirmed that the club would not accept anything lower than Djene’s release clause of €35m, and the Foxes are expected to activate the deal once Harry Maguire’s move to Manchester United is completed.”

The 27-year-old would be a very good addition for Leicester City and they can afford him as well.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Leicester.
Leicester fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club this summer.
How strong that interest is and whether Leicester City will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
