Leicester City submit bid for Porto midfielder Otavio

It’s no secret that Leicester City are interested in Otavio. But who isn’t?

According to the football transfer rumours in British and Italian media, Leicester City have submitted bid for Porto midfielder Otavio.

Porto spent 2.5 million euros to sign the Brazil international from Internacional in 2014. The 25-year-old has a valid contract with Porto until June 2021.

The midfielder has featured in 20 matches for Porto this term, netting 3 goals and providing 8 assists in all competitions.

He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

Otavio has represented Brazil at Under-20 and Under-23 level, winning 5 caps and scoring one goal.

The midfielder’s contract at Porto is about to expire and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with Leicester City showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to their team.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Leicester.

Brendan Rodgers is a long term admirer of Otavio and believes he can get the most out of the Brazil international.

According to the report,”Leicester City have made an offer to FC Porto midfielder and soon-to-be free agent Otavio. The Foxes are said to be one of several clubs vying for the 25-year-old’s signature, with another being fellow Premier League side Arsenal. The Brazilian is attracting interest from all over Europe after deciding not to renew his contract with the reigning Portuguese champions. His current deal expires in the summer. Italian site TuttoMercatoWeb reported Leicester’s interest and have claimed that Brendan Rodgers’ side have put an offer on the table. Otavio has registered 17 goals and 45 assists in 166 appearances across six-and-a-half seasons at Porto. He is a versatile midfield option who has made a considerable amount of appearances on both the left and right flanks, whilst most commonly slotting into attacking midfield. The East Midlands outfit face stiff competition from AC Milan, Roma, Napoli and Juventus in the race for the signing. All four Serie A clubs have reportedly made offers to Otavio too.”

The Foxes will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Otavio to join the club.

It would take a huge offer from Leicester to prise the 25-year-old midfielder from Porto.

If Otavio is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Leicester.

A midfielder of Otavio’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Leicester squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Brendan Rodgers’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his midfield department.

Leicester City fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.
