Leeds United enter talks with Sampdoria for Mikkel Damsgaard
Leeds reportedly want to add more quality on the flanks.
According to the football transfer rumours in British and Italian media, Leeds United have entered talks with Sampdoria for Mikkel Damsgaard.
Sampdoria spent 6.5 million euros
to sign the Denmark international from Nordsjælland in 2020. The 20-year-old has a valid contract with Sampdoria until June 2024.
The winger has banged in 2 goals and provided 4 assists in 23 matches for Sampdoria this term on all fronts.
The 20-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Denmark.
Mikkel Damsgaard has represented Denmark at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 16 caps and scoring one goal, before making his senior international debut in November 2020. As a member of Denmark national football team, Damsgaard won one cap.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Leeds United.
Leeds are looking to sign a winger and have identified the 20-year-old as potential transfer target.
Marcelo Bielsa needs to tighten up his attack and a winger would be a welcome addition.

La Repubblica says the Whites have ‘tested the waters’ as they look to sign the 20-year-old in the summer. However, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Southampton have all been credited with an interest for Damsgaard, which could prove to be serious competition for his signature. The report states that the Serie A club would accept an offer in the region of €20million (£17.5m) to let the attacker leave.”

Sampdoria are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the winger, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

If Damsgaard is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Leeds.
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
Given Damsgaard’s talent and potential, he would be a very good signing for Leeds in the long run.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Leeds.
