Leeds hoping to sign Nigeria international: A good option for Jesse Marsch?
Over the past couple of weeks, there has been intense speculation over the future of Ola Aina at Torino.
The latest reports in England suggest that Leeds United are eyeing move for Torino right-back Ola Aina.
The Nigeria international joined Torino from Chelsea for a fee in the region of 9.8 million euros in July 2019. His contract is set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
Aina has featured in 14 matches this term, providing one assist in all competitions.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best right-backs in Nigeria. As a member of Nigeria national football team, Ola Aina won 29 caps.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Leeds.
Jesse Marsch is looking to shore up his defensive options and Aina happens to be a target. Marsch is a firm fan of Torino right-back and Leeds United could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Whites are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former Chelsea man will add a new dimension to Leeds United’s defense.
According to the report, “Leeds United are eyeing Torino fullback Ola Aina. The former Chelsea trainee, who has spent time with Fulham while on the books of Toro, comes off contract in June. The Granata would like to extend the arrangement, says Tuttosport, but talks won’t be straightforward. Leeds are watching developments and are keen to bring the fullback back to England. For his part, Aina is undecided about his next move.”
Euro Football Rumours
A club with Leeds United’s resources should be able to afford him easily.
Torino will be ready to part ways with the right-back should the right offer arrives.
Good signing for Leeds United?
If Ola Aina is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Leeds. He will be an ideal choice for Marsch as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his defenders.
How strong that interest is and whether Leeds will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
