Juventus linked with surprise move for Wolves winger Pedro Neto

Juventus appear to have a genuine interest in signing Pedro Neto this winter.

According to the football transfer rumours in British and Italian media, Juventus are linked with surprise move for Wolves winger Pedro Neto.

The 20-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

Wolves spent 17.9 million euros to sign the Portugal international from Lazio in the summer of 2019. The 20-year-old has five years left on his current contract which expires in 2025.

The winger has banged in one goal and provided two assists in 9 matches for Wolves this term on all fronts.

The 20-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Portugal.

Pedro Neto has represented Portugal at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 33 caps and scoring 8 goals, before making his senior international debut in November 2020. As a member of Portugal national football team, Neto won one cap and he scored one goal.

His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.

Andrea Pirlo wants to sign a new winger and Neto is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The report claims that Juventus manager has extensively scouted Neto and is considering a move for the winger.

Juve will have funds to spend in the market and it will be interesting to see how they approach the winter transfer window.

Pedro Neto would provide a good variety to Juventus’ attack.

According to the report, “Juventus are eyeing Wolves attacker Pedro Neto. Tuttosport says the deal would be orchestrated by super agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Cristiano Ronaldo and has brokered numerous deals for Portuguese players to join the club. The 20-year-old signed for Nuno Espirto Santos’ side from Lazio in the summer of 2019, for a fee of around £16million and recently put pen to paper on a new five contract at Molineux. It is believed the Bianconeri are interested in Neto mainly due to his versatility. He can play as a central attacking midfielder, on both wings and as a forward. He is also now an international team mate of Juve star Ronaldo, after making his debut for Portugal in their 7-0 win over Andorra.”

Juve will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Wolves to the negotiating table. Juventus have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.

Good signing for Juventus?

Signing the 20-year-old in the winter transfer window would be a masterstroke from Andrea Pirlo.

Pedro Neto has all the skillset required to be a success story at Juventus. Therefore, it makes sense for Pirlo to step up his attempts to bring the Portugal winger to Serie A side.

How strong that interest is and whether Juve will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
