Juventus join AC Milan in race for Santos striker Kai Jorge

The attacking department of the Juventus squad needs quality additions this summer.

As per British and Italian media, Juventus have joined AC Milan in race for Santos striker Kai Jorge.

The 19-year-old’s contract at Santos is set to expire at the end of this year.

In 75 appearances for Santos, Jorge has managed to score 15 goals, and create four goals for his teammates.

The 19-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Brazil. Jorge has represented Brazil at Under-17 level, winning 10 caps and scoring 6 goals.

The striker has just 6 months remaining on his contract and Santos may consider a deal in this transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing next winter.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Juventus.

Kai Jorge appears to be among Massimiliano Allegri’s top choices to reinforce his striker options. Allegri has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.

The Italian giants are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

The Brazil international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Allegri’s side.

According to the report, “Juventus have jumped into the battle for Santos striker Kai Jorge. Tuttosport says AC Milan are regarded as favourites to land Jorge, though new Juve sporting director Federico Cherubini is also keen. Indeed, Cherubini rates Jorge ahead of Gianluca Scamacca, the Sassuolo striker who spent last season on-loan with Genoa. Juve are ready to pay a fee now for Jorge rather than wait until the end of the year to sign him as a free agent. Cherubini has stepped up at Juve to replace Fabrizio Paratici, who has since left for Tottenham.”

If Juve can agree on a fee with Santos, the deal should be easy to complete.

Santos are preparing to sell their striker should they receive right offer for him.

Good signing for Juventus?

It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.

Given Jorge’s talent and potential, he would be a very good signing for Juventus in the long run.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Juventus.

How strong that interest is and whether Juventus will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
