The defensive department of the Juventus squad needs quality additions this winter.
If a report from Calciomercato.com is to be believed, Juventus are interested in Leicester City right-back Timothy Castagne.
The Belgium international joined Leicester from Atalanta for a fee in the region of 20.9 million euros in September 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2025.
The right-back has banged in one goal and provided one assist in seven matches this term on all fronts.
He is considered to be one of the best right-backs in Belgium. Castagne has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 2 goals in 24 senior appearances for the Belgium national team.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Juventus.
Massimiliano Allegri wants to sign a new right-back and Castagne is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. Allegri is a firm fan of Leicester right-back and Juventus could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Italian giants are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.
The former Atalanta man can also play as a full-back, offering Allegri a different option should he change his formation at Juventus. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Leicester City defender Timothy Castagne is being linked with a return to Italy. The Belgium international is interesting Juventus, says Calciomercato.com. Castagne has struggled for minutes at Leicester this season, despite the Foxes being rock bottom on the Premier League table. Juve are planning a January move, which would be welcomed by the defender.”
Euro Football Rumours
The Foxes are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the right-back, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.
Good signing for Juventus?
Timothy Castagne stands as an excellent option for Juventus. He has all the skillset required to be a success story at Juventus. Therefore, it makes sense for Allegri to step up his attempts to bring the Belgium right-back to Serie A side.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Juventus.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Juventus come calling for Castagne this winter.
