Inter and Napoli front runners for Zenit star
full-back Domenico Criscito is a target for Inter and Napoli in January.
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Inter Milan and Napoli are front runners for Zenit star Domenico Criscito.
The Italy international was signed by Zenit in July 2011 from Genoa for a fee of 15 million euros. The 31-year-old has a contract until June 2018.
Criscito made 213 appearances across all competitions for Zenit, scoring 18 goals and supplying 28 assists in return.
As a member of Italy national football team, Domenico Criscito won 22 caps.
The full-back has just six months remaining on his contract and Zenit may consider a deal in this transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
Luciano Spalletti is looking to shore up his defensive options and Zenit’s Domenico Criscito happens to be a target.
According to the report, Inter are determined to improve the depth of their squad and recognize that they do not currently possess sufficient quality in the full-back department. It is possible that Davide Santon could leave the Nerazzurri for Galatasaray in January, and so Luciano Spalletti would require a replacement. Indeed, the Tuscan boss coached Criscito for three years at Zenit and they continue to enjoy a very positive relationship.

Meanwhile, with Faouzi Ghoulam set to be out of action until February at least, Maurizio Sarri will need a new left-back to come in and compete for a place with Mário Rui. The Partenopei are looking to be successful in Serie A, Coppa Italia and the Europa League and will therefore require at least two players per position. Criscito was born just a few kilometers from Mount Vesuvius, and could be tempted by a move to Napoli.
How strong that interest is and whether Inter Milan or Napoli will make a winter move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
