Inter Milan linked with surprise move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud
Inter are reportedly keeping a close eye on many strikers across the Europe.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Inter Milan are linked with surprise move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
Chelsea spent 17 million euros to sign the France international from Arsenal in the winter of 2018.
This season, Olivier Giroud has scored only one goal in five appearances for Chelsea.
His record for France is impressive. Giroud has scored 37 goals in 94 matches for France at senior level.
Given that his contract is expiring soon and he has not yet signed an extension, the rumors have only heated up in recent weeks.
Antonio Conte wants to sign a new striker and Olivier Giroud is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a long term admirer of Giroud and believes he can get the most out of the France international.
The France international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker.
According to Calciomercato, “In addition to a midfielder, Inter are also looking for an alternative to Lukaku ahead of the January transfer window. After receiving the no of Edin Dzeko, the Nerazzurri have set their sights on Chelsea’ Olivier Giroud. The 33-year-old was the top goalscorer in last season’s Europa League, but his contract with the Blues expires next summer. Furthermore, he is finding little space as a starter under the management of Frank Lampard, who took over from Maurizio Sarri ahead of the season. The Frenchman arrived at Chelsea in the January window of 2018, after Conte failed to bring in Dzeko to the Stamford Bridge side. In other words, history could repeat itself for the Italian manager.”

If the Inter Milan can tie up a cheap deal for the player, it may not be a bad signing by any means.
Nevertheless, Giroud stands as an excellent option for Inter Milan.
It will be interesting to see whether Inter will make their move during the winter transfer window.
