Fulham leading the race for Huddersfield Town centre-back Terence Kongolo
The defense remains the key area for Fulham to address in the next couple of transfer windows.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Fulham are leading the race for Huddersfield Town centre-back Terence Kongolo.
The Netherlands international was signed by Huddersfield Town in July 2018 from Monaco for a fee of 20 million euros. The 26-year-old has a contract until 2022 with the club.
In 60 appearances for Huddersfield Town, Kongolo has managed to score one goal, and create two goals for his teammates.
Terence Kongolo has represented Netherlands at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 38 caps and scoring 3 goals, before making his senior international debut in May 2014. As a member of Netherlands national football team, Kongolo won 4 caps.
His performances have seen him become the target of many Premier League clubs including Fulham.
The Fulham manager is in the market for a new centre-back.
Scott Parker has kept an eye on Kongolo for the last 12 months and he is impressed with the centre-back’s performances.
Fulham are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The Huddersfield Town centre-back heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third.
His arrival would give Fulham some much needed tactical flexibility.
According to the report, “Fulham are favourites to land Huddersfield Town defender Terence Kongolo. Football Insider reports Fulham are set to add another defender to their ranks after beating Sheffield United to the signing of Kongolo. The Cottagers have continued to work on a deal for another centre-back despite bringing in Joachim Andersen and Tosin Adarabioyo on deadline day. And Scott Parker’s side are reportedly confident of getting the deal over the line before Friday’s domestic deadline, after seeing off Sheffield United for the Dutch defender. Konogolo made one appearance for Fulham after joining on loan before picking up a foot injury and now looks set to reunite with the west London club.”
