Fiorentina will look to sign Galatasaray full-back Yuto Nagatomo

Fiorentina are reportedly keeping a close eye on many full-backs across the Europe.

According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Fiorentina will look to sign Galatasaray full-back Yuto Nagatomo.

The Japan international only joined Galatasaray from Internazionale in 2018 for 2.5 million euros and his contract runs to June 2020.

Nagatomo has played 43 times for Galatasaray since signing from Internazionale, scoring one goal and creating 7 assists in that time.

His record for Japan is also impressive. Nagatomo has scored 3 goals in 117 matches for Japan at senior level.

Vincenzo Montella is looking to shore up his defensive options and Galatasaray’s Yuto Nagatomo happens to be a target. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

Yuto Nagatomo would provide a good variety to Fiorentina’s defense.

According to Football Italia (via Tuttomercatoweb), “Former Inter full-back Yuto Nagatomo is reportedly a candidate to replace Cristiano Biraghi at Fiorentina. Biraghi seems set to return to Inter before the month is out, and Tuttomercatoweb claims Fiorentina have already approached Galatasaray over a possible deal for Nagatomo. The 32-year-old played 210 times for Inter between 2011 and 2018 and also had a six-month stint with Cesena. He has gone on to win two Turkish titles with Gala, although injuries hampered his 2018-19 campaign. The Japan international would likely be a low-cost option, given he has entered the final 12 months of his contract, although TMW stresses he is only one of several players the Viola are looking at.”

If the Fiorentina can tie up a cheap deal for the player, it may not be a bad signing by any means.

The 32-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current Fiorentina squad and would be a good buy in the summer transfer window.

How strong that interest is and whether Fiorentina will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
