Everton set to sign Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck

There has been numerous forwards linked with Everton in past few months.

The reports in England suggested that Everton are set to sign Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck.

The England international was signed by Arsenal in September 2014 from Manchester United for a fee of 20 million euros. The 27-year-old has a contract until 2019 with the club.

Welbeck has played 112 times for Arsenal since signing from Manchester United, scoring 27 goals and creating 14 assists in that time. He has also scored 16 goals in 40 games for his country.

Given that his contract is expiring soon and he has not yet signed an extension, the rumors have only heated up in recent weeks.

According to The Sun, “Arsenal are ready to sell Danny Welbeck. New boss Unai Emery also wants to offload David Ospina and Lucas Perez as he tries to trim his squad. Everton are considering a £15million move for England striker Welbeck, who is in the final year of his contract and has yet to be offered a new deal. The 27-year-old is at the back of a long queue of attacking options behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi.”

A move to Everton is exactly what Danny Welbeck needs to reignite his career, and we hope he is able to do just that.

Undoubtedly he would be a fantastic recruit for Everton.

How strong that interest is and whether Everton will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
