Everton poised to land Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson

The Toffees need to strengthen their attack this summer.

It’s claimed by British media that Everton are poised to land Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson.

The Wales international joined Nottingham Forest from Dunkirk in 2009. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.

The winger banged in 19 goals and provided 9 assists in 52 matches this season across all fronts showcasing just how influential he has been in the final third.

The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Wales. Johnson has earned 9 senior caps for the Wales national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.

His impressive performances have seen him become the target of many Premier League clubs including Everton.

Brennan Johnson is widely regarded as a key transfer target for Everton this summer.

Frank Lampard is a firm fan of Nottingham Forest winger and Everton could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

The Toffees are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

The former Dunkirk man can play multiple positions in attack.

According to the report, “Everton are eyeing move for Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson. The Daily Mail says the 21-year-old is at the top of their summer wishlist, along with Burnley defender James Tarkowski. But an offer for Johnson will be shaped by Forest’s fate in this Sunday’s Championship play-off final against Huddersfield Town. Should Forest win then the Wales international will open talks over a new contract with just 12 months to run on his current deal. There is no guarantee an agreement will be reached, however, and were Forest to lose then his departure would appear likely. A fee in the region of £20million has been mooted. Everton, like Newcastle, Leicester and Brentford, have watched Johnson this season, during which he has scored 19 times and was last week named Championship Player of the Year.”

Euro Football Rumours

Considering they don’t have a big budget, Everton will have to be smart with the signings in the transfer window.

Nottingham Forest would be wise to keep the Wales international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Good signing for Everton?

Undoubtedly, he would be a fantastic recruit for Everton.

It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.

Brennan Johnson has all the skillset required to be a success story at Everton. Therefore, it makes sense for Frank Lampard to step up his attempts to bring the Wales winger to Premier League side.

It will be interesting to see where the player ends up this summer.
