Everton poised to land Luis Alberto
It’s no secret that Everton are interested in Luis Alberto. But who isn’t?
As per British media, Everton are poised to land Lazio attacking midfielder Luis Alberto.
Lazio spent 4 million euros to sign the Spain international from Liverpool
in the summer of 2016. The 28-year-old has five years left on his current contract which expires in 2025.
The attacking midfielder has banged in one goal in 11 matches for Lazio this term on all fronts.
The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best attacking midfielders in Spain.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Everton.
Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign a new attacking midfielder and Alberto is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a firm fan of Lazio attacking midfielder and Everton could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Toffees are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
There is no doubt that Luis Alberto will take Everton’s midfield to a different level.
According to the report, “Everton links with Lazio’s Luis Alberto go back towards the start of this year, with it being reported in Italy that Carlo Ancelotti was a fan of the player. It was explained the manager was keen on the Spanish midfielder and ‘would see him gladly at Everton in the future’. Last week saw the rumour return, with Luis Alberto managing to find himself on the wrong side of those in charge at Lazio. Players at the Italian club have faced a reduction in wages this year due to the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the player criticised the decision to slash salaries whilst also investing in a new luxury plane for the Lazio squad. This didn’t go down well and there’s been transfer chatter since. Citta Celeste report a sale in one of the next two windows is a distinct possibility, regardless of whether Luis Alberto continues to be in the team. Everton are said to ‘watch with binoculars’, ready to swoop should the situation present itself. Juventus and Inter Milan are also keen, with Lazio ‘ready to sell’ but not at a discounted price.”

Everton will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Lazio to the negotiating table. The Toffees have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.
Good signing for Everton?
Everton should do everything in their power to sign the in-demand Alberto, who has all the qualities to be a success at the club.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Everton.
Everton fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.
It will be interesting to see if Everton can beat their rivals to the attacking midfielder’s signature.
