Everton interested in Adama Traore

The attacking department of the Everton squad needs quality additions this summer.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Everton are interested in Wolves winger Adama Traore.

The Spain international joined Wolves from Middlesbrough for a fee in the region of 20 million euros in August 2018. His contract expires in the summer of 2023. In January 2022, Traore was sent to Barcelona on a season-long loan.

The winger has made 8 appearances in La Liga so far this season, providing two assists in the process, according to Transfermarkt.

The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best wingers in Spain. Traore has earned 8 senior caps for the Spain national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.

Adama Traore will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Barcelona this term.

The Toffees are looking to sign a winger and have identified the 26-year-old as potential transfer target. Frank Lampard is a firm fan of Wolves winger and Everton could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

Everton are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

The former Middlesbrough man is a dynamic winger, who possesses good technical skills and ball control. There is no doubt that Traore will take Everton’s attack to a different level.

According to the report, “Everton will consider a move for Wolves winger Adama Traore if Barcelona do not buy him at the end of his loan spell. Wolves sent Adama Traore on loan to Barcelona during the January transfer window. He will remain with them until the summer, by which time the La Liga side will have the option to buy him permanently. A positive start to life back at Barcelona led to the belief that such an operation was possible. However, now Traore’s permanence at Camp Nou is in doubt. He started three La Liga games in the month of February but is yet to add to that tally since. What’s more, he is yet to score since his return to Catalonia. Barcelona may opt to look elsewhere in the summer, leaving Wolves with a dilemma if Traore returns. They would only have him under contract for another year at that point. According to Football Insider, Wolves would prefer to sell Traore than let his deal run down. In turn, Everton are the ones hoping to benefit. The online outlet claims that Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell, who was with Wolves when they signed Traore, wants to pick up the 26-year-old again.”

The Toffees will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Traore to join the club.

It would take a huge offer from Everton to prise the 26-year-old winger from Wolves.

Good signing for Everton?

If Adama Traore is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Everton.

A winger of Traore’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Everton squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Lampard’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his attacking department.

The 26-year-old could be a good fit for Lampard’s Everton.

It will be interesting to see where the player ends up this summer.
