Everton in advanced talks to bring Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard

It’s been a transfer window full of surprises, and Everton could be set to carry on this trend.

The latest reports in England suggest that Everton are in advanced talks to bring Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard.

The France international joined Celtic from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee in the region of 10.3 million euros in July 2018. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.

The forward has banged in 3 goals and provided 2 assists in 10 matches for Celtic this term on all fronts.

He’s incredibly experienced for a 23-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

Edouard has represented France at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 51 caps and scoring 43 goals.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Everton.

Rafa Benitez wants to sign a new forward and Edouard is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a firm fan of Celtic forward and Everton could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

The Toffees are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

The France international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Rafa Benitez’s side.

According to the report, “Everton have made contact with Celtic over a potential deal for Odsonne Edouard. Sky Sports are reporting that the Goodison Park club have “sounded out” Celtic with a view to making a bid for the 23-year-old. Rafa Benitez wants another striking option to compliment Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the Merseyside club’s attack and Edouard may be the very man to fill this vacancy. There is an air of inevitability that he will leave but hopefully, it is after a win at Ibrox on Sunday. The club would likely accept a deal of around £15-20m for Edouard, as was the case with Kris Ajer. Although, the club may have to accept a lesser amount if the deal comes about at this stage of the transfer window. Celtic are said to be nearing a deal for Greece international Georgios Giakoumakis. The striker would act as a replacement for Edouard with Leigh Griffiths set to leave on loan too.”

If Everton can agree on a fee with Celtic, the deal should be easy to complete.

Celtic are preparing to sell their forward should they receive right offer for him.

Odsonne Edouard ideal fit for Everton?

If Edouard is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Everton.

The 23-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current Everton squad and would be a good buy in the summer transfer window.

Odsonne Edouard has all the skillset required to be a success story at Everton. Therefore, it makes sense for Rafa Benitez to step up his attempts to bring the France forward to Premier League side.

It will be interesting to see if Everton can beat their rivals to the forward’s signature.
