Everton eyeing move for Nottingham Forest centre-back Joe Worrall

The upcoming summer will see Everton improving their defensive department.

According to a report from Tribalfootball, Everton are eyeing move for Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall.

He has been subject to interest from various Premier League clubs.

The 25-year-old’s contract at Nottingham Forest is set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

He has featured in 36 matches this term, netting one goal and providing one assist in all competitions. Joe is incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

Worrall has represented England at Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning seven caps.

He will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Nottingham Forest this term.

Adding a centre-back remains Everton’s top priority this summer and Frank Lampard will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming months.

Lampard is a firm fan of Nottingham Forest centre-back and Everton could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

The Toffees are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

The Nottingham Forest player is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

According to the report, “Everton are watching Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall. The Toffees are serial offenders for leaking goals this season, shipping 52 in their 30 league games so far. The Liverpool Echo says scouts from the blue side of Merseyside were in attendance as Forest bowed out of the FA Cup to Liverpool in March. Worrall has been part of a back line which has kept 13 clean sheets, following a dramatic turnaround since Steve Cooper took over at Forest earlier this season. The 25-year-old has also been an essential part in the club’s current fine form, playing every minute in their unbeaten run which currently stretches to 10 matches.”

If Everton can agree on a fee with Nottingham Forest, the deal should be easy to complete.

Nottingham Forest are preparing to sell their centre-back should they receive right offer for him.

Good signing for Everton?

If Everton and Lampard are seriously considering a centre-back, Worrall could also prove to be a smart option.

Joe Worrall has all the skillset required to be a success story at Everton. Therefore, it makes sense for Frank Lampard to step up his attempts to bring the England centre-back to Premier League side.

How strong that interest is and whether Everton will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
